thinking about how shauna was never going to be able to consume enough of jackie. it wasn’t enough to be her best friend it wasn’t enough to have her boyfriend it wasn’t enough to take the i love yous jeff should have been saying to her it wasn’t enough to take her place in the team dynamics it wasn’t enough even to take her safe spot in the cabin away in the cabin so that she freezes to death it was never ever going to be enough. shauna had already consumed every part of jackie she could including her life but she still wasn’t full enough of her and the only thing she could try next was to physically eat her. and what is teenage best friendhood if not a desperate attempt to have as much as your best friend as you can possibly can? god this show!

misty from yellowjackets is such an interesting character. i don’t think i’ve ever seen a character who is that combination of cruel, warm, intelligent, manipulative, remorseless, friendly, and socially inept, and it’s not that some of those aspects are just a facade. she is motivated by genuine desire to be close with other people and is willing both to harm them and to put herself at risk in order to accomplish that, which destabilizes a lot of the conventional assumptions about empathy.
