What if everyone in Almaren was convinced Melkor had kidnapped Mairon, the day when Aule’s best went missing. No one could conceive the possibility that the most admirable Maia would just walk out of his own accord, let alone choose to join Melkor. Aule begged Melkor to return Mairon to the Valar, but Melkor just laughed in his face.

And still, even now, the tale of Mairon the Admirable being stolen away is a well known tragedy told by Aule to his people. And it has been long forgotten that the mighty Mairon Aulendil and the dark lord Sauron the Abhorred are one and the same.

Every night Melkor would sneak into Mairon’s room. He would speak to Mairon of sweet things, of unrestrained passions, of raw and primitive desirous creation. Of the primordial night. Of sin, and it’s wild ecstatic freedom. And when he looked into Melkor’s eyes he saw something. Something quite obvious, something with a beating heart and a fiery soul. Now he knew he would never be the same again, as he had seen all the universe in the eyes of another. He now knew the taste of divine violence, and he had never known such perfection.
