The tonal rollercoaster of episode two was pretty damn remarkable to watch… I mean, this might be a divisive opinion, but if I had to describe the tone of Anne Rice’s writing with the VC novels, this episode is a pretty good visual answer. And I do mean that as a compliment.

Yes, it’s gorgeous and poetic and all that but it also can make you choke on your drink at how batshit absurd it can get. Which includes moments of “…did I really just read that?” Then after it’s frightened and worried you, it lulls you back in with a gentle, calm moment. And this episode pulled that tone off, imo.

But I cannot stress enough that the reason why this is working for me so far is that it is intentional!

…this is going to be a wild show to watch, I can’t wait 😂

I second this so hard!!! This episode is exactly what reading the Vampire Chronicles is like! It has these beautiful thought provoking moments then all of a sudden total chaos like Lestat running into a window like a bird. This is absolutely the tone of the books and I LOVE it!!
