I was talking to a friend and she was saying she can't wear earrings when her baby is on her lap because he finds them veeeery interesting and tugs them 10/10 times and that's an injury waiting to happen, and I know that's not uncommon baby behavior so I don't know why but this time it hit me that OH MY GOD I HAVE A NEW BABY TYELPE HEADCANON

...alternate safety earring fastners have got ro be common baby shower gifts in Aman. Like, withagets or quick-releases. Or whole new sets of baby chewing safe jewelry (still with safety releases).

I am 100% sure that's a common problem the Noldor have and I agree they would throw Inventions at it to try and fix the problem
I still think Tyelpe should display an above average level of "I will absolutely refuse to accept any limits in the Pursuit of Knowledge* and the Honing of Excellence**" energy and that he would very much be indulged in this. Catch Feanor answering Tyelpe's nonsense babbling with information about the exact composition of the gem he's trying to eat, and definitely catch Curufin wearing ten times more baby-safe jewelry than he did before becoming a dad because encouraging curiosity is of course his foremost duty as a new parent
*Pursuit of Knowledge: acquiring and shoving jewelry into his mouth to Understand The Shiny
**Honing of Excellence: learning how his own hands work. Did you know it's possible to GRAB things and also to THROW them and even to SHAKE them to produce Noises???? Only the most talented of craftsmen have such skill of hand actually

....this was supposed to be just a cute, silly headcanon but I'm suddenly considering making it so that we don't know Celebrimbor's mother or father-names and his epesse is Celebrimbor both for his skill as a crafter and for his marked tendency from childhood all the way to his death to take in his hand everything silvery he sees (culminating in his love for mithril, of course)
