So I was thinking about this again and realized that these shoes reminded me of something so I went down a search wormhole.
Modern interpretations are called ballerina boots but the earliest versions of these are called Viennese fetish boots. This specific style is generally attributed to the turn of the 1900s but there are other similar examples of shoe-oriented fetishery going back to the Victorian era.
I've been aware of ballerina boots/heels for a long time but I didn't know about their originsโwhich are explicitly sexual. The shoes of women were not typically on display to be seen due to the long dresses worn at the time; shoes of this nature were typically the purview of prostitutes and wealthy enthusiasts/perverts. Feet and footwear often carried pretty sexual connotations.
I tagged my original reblog with something "these shoes are not made for walking" and I was being silly but also... this exact style of shoe was not made for walking. ๐

Stick with it, IWTV fandom, because the use of surrealism in the flashbacks (especially moving into the second half of S1), the timeline issues, the introduction of a new perspective with Armand, different perspectives in flashback, the increasing emotional stakes, Louis' meltdown, etc.... it just seems very plausible to me that Louis would have trouble picturing Claudia sometimes. So instead of a recast it could be more of a collaboration almost?

they were so big brained for doing the 18th century ball so lestat could be in period accurate clothing when they slit his throat the way he should have died in 1794 under a guillotine

there is no overused trope I love to see as much as Maedhros collapsing the moment Fingon dies during the Nirnaeth
