The donghua really went and made Meng Shi look damn near identical to Nie Huaisang and now we're going nuts on twitter with the concept of Meng Shi and Second Madam Nie having been sisters who got separated and ended up with *vastly* different lives because of the sect leaders they fell for.

Like, imagine when Nie Mingjue decides to introduce the newly-legitimized Jin Guangyao to his little brother and out comes this teenager a couple of years younger than him who is the spitting image of *his* mother, and then learning about how Second Madam Nie was raised up from concubine to wife and Nie Huaisang has been considered a legitimate son since he was born.

They are *cousins*, and the boy has the life he's been striving for from the beginning, all because Papa Nie wasn't the scumbag Jin Guangshan still is.

And then Nie Huaisang, being the cuddly thing he is, immediately latches on to him as another brother-figure, entirely unaware that they share blood.
