“My name is Celsa Ortiz. I’m a 21 year old trans woman located in Mexico.
I was raised in a conservative and transphobic household, where expressing myself was impossible. My transition has been hard for this reason. I told my mother because keeping it as a secret was driving me to major anxiety and depression problems, but she did not take it well and now is forcing me to leave the house, but due to my college schedule I’m incapable of getting a job.
Mexico is a country with a high rate of hate crimes against trans individuals and this is why it’s important to have financial safety to guarantee my surveillance.”
