  32. emeraldinerosefaedragon said: into vampires to watch, she binged up to ep6 in one day and asked where ep7 was before the finale. My sister who knew nothing of the series had mainly two things to say about “that white boy is ruthless” and “Louis is a big titty baby” that should tell you how good Sam and Jacob’s performance was.
  33. emeraldinerosefaedragon said: @burstingbone it really felt overdone. I didn’t even know that they were turning the books into a TV series until a week before the premiere aired and I was the bts episode. I have no expectations, only an interest in seeing what they’d do with this iteration and by the fall of the curtain of Act I (ep1), I was both praising and cursing AMC for both reminding me of and reviving my hyperfixiation. I even convinced my sister who know nothing about the series and isn’t even
  34. emeraldinerosefaedragon said: I really don’t like flawless, perfect characters. The Mary Sue/Gary Stu trope irks me to the nth degree. Give me dirty, gritty, nasty and severely fucked up any day.
  35. emeraldinerosefaedragon said: Lestat is one of my favorite characters of all time and I’ve even warmed up to Louis because of Jacob but I understand that Lestat is a monster that love being a monster, that’s done some fucked up shit even to those he loves and I’m okay with that because it’s a fiction, a good fiction but still a fiction and Lestat is an interesting multidimensional, multilayered, complicated character that’s contradiction on contradiction.
  36. burstingbone said: @emeraldinerosefaedragon oh yeah the end of ep5 remains a cheap thrill to me. It felt like something out of the MCU and really too much. but there’s lots of stuff about the show I find too much or out of character but I accept this is what they are doing. This is the show. I choose to focus on the awesome performances, costumes, and love story. Never occurred to me to watch it for good/bad morals or queer rep.
  37. emeraldinerosefaedragon said: I get invested especially when it’s a piece of media that I hyperfixiated on like the VC but I still know how to take a step back and separate reality from fantasy. I like vampires, I know that they regularly kill humans but it’s not like I’m out here simping for Jeffrey fucking Dahmer.
  38. emeraldinerosefaedragon said: snapped. They are inhuman monsters, stands to reason that any falling out would be monstrous as they are. But despite all that they still belong with and to each other.
  39. emeraldinerosefaedragon said: @burstingbone when I watch a show like this. I don’t really have an expectations even if it’s built on an existing framework. I just go where the story takes me while coming up with theirs about what going to happen but I still keep an open mind. Admittedly, ep5 shocked me at first because it seemed like it came out of nowhere but after I had time to digest the episode and think I realized that it had been building for awhile. They kept pushing each other until they

  41. burstingbone said: @emeraldinerosefaedragon It makes me think of Buffy, I watched it back in the day and no one in my circle of friends was driven by “how will they make this monstrous vamp and good girl come back together”. We just thought the show would take us on a ride and we’d see where it went. This new notion that we must screen shows for morality as they air is really odd to me, especially horror/vamp shows! it’s a love story, it’s a horror show, sure, tell me more.
  42. emeraldinerosefaedragon said: They are each other’s gods, Lestat is a staunch atheist. That alone should tell you everything you need to know.
  43. emeraldinerosefaedragon said: All up and down SM, I keep seeing people questioning how they are going to come back from ep5. That tells me how much people lack comprehension and are very tunnel visioned because I can see a multitude of ways. Louis set Lestat on fire in the books and Lestat still wanted him back. They are endgame canonically, no matter how many other relationships they go through. They always settle comfortably and happily with each other.
  44. emeraldinerosefaedragon said: Guess that’s what happens when you only focus on the negative and ignore every good thing that happened. Lestat was drawn to Louis instantly and Louis couldn’t stop thinking about Lestat after their first meeting.
  45. emeraldinerosefaedragon said: @burstingbone this is a love story. RJ straight up said it. Sam and Jacob poured especially everything into their performances to bring these characters to life. They ARE Lestat de Lioncourt and Louis de Pointe du Lac. I mean how good do you have to be to have fictional characters possess you? How can anyone look at scenes like this and not see how much they love each other and how much they belong together even if they need a break?
